Our Vinyl Weighs a Ton: This Is Stones Throw Records

Anticafe and cultural centre Praxis this Saturday invites you to watch the film Our Vinyl Weighs a Ton: This Is Stones Throw Records. This is a documentary about one of the most important independent music labels on the planet — Stones Throw, founded in 1996 by Chris Manak (aka Peanut Butter Wolf), who got the world to take unprecedented look at hip-hop, funk, soul and rhythm and Blues. During its existence, the record office has published a great number of powerful releases from such legends underground rap like Oh No, JDilla, Madlib (with his psilocybin alter-ego Quasimoto, and other projects) to the star of the new soul Aloe Blacc and experimentalist James Pants. The film consists of rare videos, live concerts, Studio work, home gatherings, parties, and interviews, in which the first face of the label tell you about the history of their craft, and mastodons hip-hop culture like grandpa Snoop Dogg and Mike D from the Beastie Boys express them endless respect.
